Bad luck? Good luck?

This week, the workday began in an unexpected way. We received an email...

"Mandatory Teams meeting at 4:00 PM."

It didn't take long before colleagues started calling each other, speculating about what it could all be about.

Now we know – at least to some extent.

There will be restructuring and significant changes. Who will be affected and in what way, we don't know yet. There will be a period of uncertainty in the near future.

But that's just how life is, isn't it? Not only when it comes to work.

We can never really be sure of anything. Correction: The only thing we can be sure of is that we can never be sure. As the Greek philosopher Socrates put it:

I know that I know nothing.

Is it hard not to know, not to be in control? Only if we demand to have total control over everything, which of course is impossible in all aspects of life.

If we can accept the fact that we can never be 100% sure of anything, then a great burden has been lifted from our shoulders.

We also increase the chances to see the opportunities that all changes bring in one way or another. Like in the story of the old man who lost his horse.

Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?

Time will tell...
