Birming bulletin #2
Quite a lot has happened since the first bulletin post less than two weeks ago. I'm probably forgetting a few things, but here are the main ones.
Themes
Version 5.0 of the Bearming theme has been released. There aren't many notable changes on the surface, but plenty of improvements under the hood.
I also released the Pixel Bear theme, which got a really warm response. Thank you all for your kind words.
Add-ons
There's a new Bearming tokens snippet that helps add-ons look good even if you're using another theme. It also makes things much easier for me when it comes to consistency and new releases.
All add-ons have been updated to support the new tokens approach. A couple of new ones have been added too, like the External link marker.
Widgets
Widgets is a brand new section in the Bear library. It's a family of add-ons that lets you display live data anywhere on your blog.
I use several of them on my Interests page. They give the page a consistent look and keep it up to date without me having to manually edit it. There's Letterboxd (movies), Hardcover (books), and Crucial Tracks (music), to name a few.
Styles
The styles page now has a category for images. There are currently two to choose from, Hero and Frame, with more to come. I'm also planning to add a bunch of styles for block quotes, dividers, and a few other things.
Inspiration
I added a Blog inspiration page featuring stories from bloggers all around the world. Why they write, how they do it, what platforms they use, what motivates them, and what struggles they face.
